QUEENSFERRY COMMUNITY COUNCIL FINANCIAL AND ORDINARY MEETING HELD
6pm on Tuesday 11 July 2023
at Sandycroft Community Centre

Ordinary meeting commenced at 7.00pm
PRESENT: Cllrs. Mrs. D. Milner (Chair) C. Bowden, Mrs. P. Connah, K. Garret, Mrs. C. Jones, Mrs. L. Povey,
Mrs. S. Salisbury, T. Williams and the Clerk.
IN ATTENDANCE: A resident from Pentre, regarding the vacancy for Queensferry Ward.

3) TO APPROVE THE DRAFT MINUTES OF THE ORDINARY MEETING HELD 13 JUNE 2023
The Minutes were taken as read and approved. Proposed by Cllr. D. Wisinger, Seconded by Cllr. Mrs S. Salisbury.
4) MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES
Update required from the Authority regarding the nuisance parking issues by KFC in Queensferry.
5) DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST
Regarding the proposed donation to Theatr Clwyd, Cllrs. Mrs. Connah, Mrs. Jones
and D. Wisinger declared a personal interest.
6) CO- OPTION TO FILL VACANCY FOR QUEENSFERRY WARD
The Pentre resident who attended the meeting, decided not to be co-opted on council, and left the meeting.
This casual vacancy would be re-advertised, copy sent to the Authority, who would then inform the Clerk
if co-option was permissible.
7) REPORT FROM THE CHAIRPERSON
Speeding vehicles on Sunday mornings in Factory Road, Sandycroft had been noted. The local police officer would be
informed to alert “Speed Watch” and “Arrive Alive”.
Future Flooding Issues, Cllr. Mrs. Milner suggested that a “Response Committee” be formed, as N.R.W were being
requested to attend the October Council meeting, guidance could be given on what was required. Cllrs. T. Williams and
Mrs. L Povey were thanked for their response during the recent heavy rain that caused some roads to be flooded.
Street-Scene would be asked to regularly inspect and keep the gullies clear.
Ferry Garden Committee had sent an invitation to Cllr. Mrs. Milner for Sunday 23rd July, they were also applying for
funding from “Keep Wales Tidy”.
Cllr Mrs. Milner suggested that council could work jointly with Ferry Garden Committee in trying to obtain these
grants.
Fly-tipping was noted in many areas of the Wards, particularly in North Street, therefore an informal meeting would be
arranged between some members of council and the landlord of these properties, in an attempt to solve the problem.
The Clerk was asked to contact the land registry to clarify the situation of rear accesses in the Wards.
8) REPORT FROM THE CLERK
The Street-Scene manager had been contacted and requested to remind her officers at Street-Scene about the road dips
and pot holes, in Sandycroft and Pentre.
To ascertain the situation on the four replacement street lights, the map of foot-way lighting in all the wards still
awaited, and an update on the proposed CCTV camera for North Street.
Mark Tami had replied to the Clerk’s letter regarding the foul odour “soggy mop smell” that many residents in various
localities were complaining about.
Overgrown hedge in Station Road, making it difficult for residents to walk along the pavement.
The Clerk would write to the public house manager and to the brewery.
Land in Station Road, (formally the site of the New Inn) a local resident had informed the Clerk of the proposal of a housing
association to build eight houses on this land.
No recent planning consultation regarding this proposal had been received by this council.
9) INFORMATION REGARDING THE OFFICER FOR NATURE VISIT.
Councillor Mrs. K. Perry was not present to give an updated report.
Although information and photographs had been circulated to council.

Letter seeking financial support from Theatr Clwyd
